In addition to the International Centre being a thriving powerhouse in Mississauga’s booming economy for over 38 years, it is an integral force shaping Ontario’s future as well. Through its commitments supporting and contributing to education programs throughout the Province of Ontario, the International Centre has created jobs for hospitality and foodservice professionals; it has created passion in hospitality and foodservice graduates; it has created opportunity for hospitality and foodservice graduates to practice their trades and hone their skills under the tutelage of the industry’s leading executives in the hospitality and foodservice sectors.
The International Centre’s team devotes its time teaching, developing curriculum, mentoring and advising to colleges and universities throughout Southern Ontario to help students prosper. Over the past 3 ½ years, the International Centre has put over 20 students through training and development programs. At a glance:
· The International Centre has invested $25,000 over 5 years towards the development of Humber College’s culinary institute.
· Executive Chef Joseph Levesque has employed 10 culinary interns in the kitchen from Humber College since 2008, many of whom were offered employment post graduation.
· The International Centre will have more than 15 interns in 2011 from college programs including Humber, Seneca, George Brown, Brock, Centennial and Waterloo covering the fields of culinary, event & venue management, logistics and sustainable business
· The International Centre has contributed to the Tourism Development program at Niagara College.
· The International Centre has assisted in the development, implementation and is an on-going contributor to industry mentorship programs
· The International Centre is fully committed to contributing to education: 100% of management taught, mentored, advised, guided or trained students on or offsite in 2010.
The International Centre strives to continually raise the bar for food and service quality. Having recently been awarded prestigious designations from VQA and the Wine Council of Ontario, the International Centre is proud to provide students access to the latest ideas and benchmarks in the culinary, hospitality and sustainability fields. The International Centre believes that giving back leads to growing stronger.
