Supporting the Community

Set Sail For Hope

The International Centre led the formation of Venues Aligned for Sustainability Excellence (VASE) in 2011. It’s a partnership within Project Green’s Hospitality Consortium dedicated to finding sustainable options for hotels and meeting venues in the Pearson Business Eco-Zone. Learn more at www.partnersinprojectgreen.com.

The International Centre also donates locally. The Credit Valley Hospital Foundation, MPI Foundation, Friends of We Care, The Salvation Army, The Peel Children’s Aid Foundation, The Knights Table, the World Wildlife Foundation, and the United Way all receive funds from our team.

And who says giving back can’t be fun? Every year The International Centre participates in Set Sail for Hope. It raises money for Camp Trillium, which supports children with cancer and their families. Plus, four months of each year, our team provides balanced breakfasts to local students through the Breakfast for Kids program — because learning can only happen on a full stomach.

We cultivate talent from the ground up with our commitment to industry academia; investing through scholorships, internships, co-ops, curriculum development and monetary donations.

The International Centre believes that giving back leads to growing stronger.

Engaging Employees

Employee Retention and Recognition Program

Every quarter, The International Centre’s Employee Retention and Recognition Program rewards outstanding performance. These awards ensure that those key employees who “Do whatever it takes” to make your events truly exceptional are celebrated for their extra efforts.

The International Centre’s CSR Task Force of over 25 staff volunteers meet monthly to design and implement the important initiatives mentioned here: the greening of our environment, supporting our community and engaging employees.

Greening Our Environment

The International Centre, helping the environment

The International Centre team continuously seeks to reduce and save energy. From lighting retrofits to equipment upgrades, we’re always looking for better, innovative solutions. Plus, our kitchen is bullfrogpowered with 100% clean energy — green electricity and natural gas.

Waste diversion is an important aspect of this. We use china to reduce waste at our Craft Eatery — which also elevates the dining experience. We procure supplies that are 100% compostable, our cooking oil is recycled into fuel to heat barns, and we track our different streams of waste to learn more and to continuously improve.

These many smaller improvements add up to a big difference.

Finally, The International Centre kitchen aims at sourcing as many local in-season ingredients as possible. Whether it’s a menu for 10 guests, or upwards of 2000, local always tastes better. And, it’s better for the environment.
